A Backsplash Made of Dreamwalls Glass
Think beyond traditional choices like tile when considering backsplash options for your renovated kitchen or bathroom. Dreamwalls glass is low iron glass with paint (in your choice of color) applied to the back along with a protective coating. The color in the paint shines vibrantly through the ultra-clear glass leaving you with a surface that melds your selected hue with the unique beauty of glass.

Strips of Dreamwalls glass can be used to create a sleek, smooth backsplash. A seamless or nearly seamless look is possible and sometimes preferred by homeowners. However, you can also add a number of small tile-like pieces of Dreamwalls glass in one or more hues. These can be utilized to create a radiant mosaic.

Frameless Glass Shower Enclosures
Adding a frameless glass shower enclosure to a bathroom is arguably the most effective way to give the space modern charm. Frameless enclosures are made from thick tempered glass, and they are characterized by frame-free glass edges. On a frameless unit glass takes center stage. Very little metal is present – only small clips and hinges – which makes the shower look open and roomy.

1. Paint the front door.
This is quick and inexpensive, but it can drastically change the first impression made by your home. Think carefully about the effect you wish to create before selecting the paint color for your front door. You could make a bold, bright statement with a shade like lime green or sunshine yellow. 2. Rearrange the furniture in your main living space.
Move things around to create a fresh look without spending a dime. Some principles to keep in mind as you rearrange are:
   •  Avoid pushing chairs and sofas right up to the wall.
   •  Make sure the arrangement fosters conversation.
   •  Allow traffic to flow smoothly from one area to the next.
   •  Keep things interesting by placing items of various heights in the same room.
   •  Give your favorite pieces the most visibility.
   •  Create focal points with interesting and lovely items and fixtures.

Interior Design Trends in 2017What will 2017 design trends look like? An internet search will reveal a number of intriguing predictions, but we’d like to share some ideas for how to renovate your home in such a way that your décor investments will remain timely no matter what 2017 throws our way.

A Remodeling Philosophy for Success
What role should 2017 design trends have in your renovation? If you want to remodel and then be able to enjoy your improved living space for years, consider being guided by the following ideas:
   •  For expensive, hard to change fixtures, opt for what is timeless and versatile for the most part.
   •  When you decide to invest in a trending look, try to pick a trend that seems likely to wear well and remain tasteful even when it’s no longer the latest fad.
   •  Ensure that your freshly remodeled home is stylish by bringing in less expensive trending items.

Make Your Bathroom a Palette for 2017 Trends
Let’s take a look at how the above philosophy could inform your decisions when renovating the master bathroom.
   •  Design a clear frameless shower enclosure. This look is in style today, but it is also very versatile since it features a classic, simple material: clear glass.
   •  When it comes to tile, do some research into what options will be hot in 2017. Integrate these into your shower, floor, backsplash, or walls. However, from among the forecasted 2017 tile trends, pick one that will match changing color schemes and bathroom themes as time goes on.
   •  Ensure that your refurbished bathroom is up-to-date by letting 2017 design trends inform your choices of towels, rugs, window treatments, soap dishes, and so forth.

New Year’s Resolutions for Your Home

Home ImprovementShouldn’t you have some New Year’s resolutions for the place you spend most of your time? Make your home inviting and welcoming with a few home improvement and home décor ideas for the New Year.  January 1st is a wonderful time to reflect on the past year while setting goals for the new one.  Just like personal resolutions that we set for ourselves, we can also set goals for home improvement.

And just like with our individual plans, sometimes our ambitions with home improvements are too lofty.  The most life changing personal goals are those small ones that we keep up with and maintain.  There are many small, relatively inexpensive things that we can do to our homes that will also have a big, lasting impact.  There are simple to-dos for your home that can make you happier by making things look fresher and more organized.

Let’s talk about a few resolutions in home improvement projects that won’t take a ton of time or money:

   •   Paint - There is nothing that is less expensive and has more of an impact than a fresh coat of color and/or design.
   •   Mirrors - Add a simple framed mirror with a vintage frame, or you can choose a beveled mirror.  If those options don’t appeal to you add a larger mirror to ensure a brighter, bigger looking space.
   •   Glass shelving - Shelving is a great way to organize your home without breaking the bank.  You can choose to put glass shelving anywhere in your home.  It adds a nice space for displaying items in your living space.  Adding shelving is also a great place to store towels and toiletries in a bathroom.  Where ever you need storage, glass shelving can be installed.
   •   Glass shower doors - Glass shower doors can be a little more of an investment, but there are beautiful doors available for every budget.  The visual impact coupled with the functionality of a glass shower enclosure is an improvement with an amazing effect on the entire look and feel of the bathroom.

Wall Mirror Options for the Modern Living Room

(Provided by ABC Glass & Mirror, Inc. - Tuesday, December 06, 2016)

Wall MirrorsIf you’re looking for a wall hanging for your modern living room or working to make your space transitional, a mirror is a wonderful option. A contemporary-style wall mirror adds clean lines and simple beauty to any room while also making it look larger than it is. Let’s look at some of the many mirror options available to Northern Virginia homeowners.

Mirror Covered Wall
If you want to maximize the illusion of space, consider a mirror wall. Glaziers can cover one entire living room wall with mirror glass. Depending on the size of the wall and the dimensions of the room’s entrance, the wall might be able to be covered with a single huge mirror. Alternatively, a few large mirrors can be installed adjacent to one another to fully cover the wall. Finally, the wall could be transformed with many small square or rectangular mirrors arranged like tiles. A mirror wall will make the living room look twice the size it really is!

Beveled Mirror
Consider a beveled mirror if you’d prefer to simply hang a large mirror in your living room instead of covering a whole wall with mirror glass. On a mirror like this, there is a bevel around the perimeter. Basically, the glass around the mirror’s exterior angles down and finishes in a thin polished edge.

A beveled mirror is simple and sleek. At the same time, the bevel adds visual interest and a subtle border. Beveled mirrors bring modern elegance to a space and are a little dressier than polished edge mirrors.

Unplug and Connect with Family: Why Décor Choices Matter

(Provided by ABC Glass & Mirror, Inc. - Monday, December 05, 2016)

Home DecorIt’s becoming increasingly difficult to unplug from our many electronic devices, and this affects a family’s ability to connect. Did you realize that décor choices can make a difference? Intentionally designing your home to foster quality family time and true interpersonal connection can help you be a family that is “tuned in” to one another rather than your mobile devices.

Change the Living Room’s Focal Point
Many living rooms are designed around the TV. Often all the seating options are placed with one goal in mind: a clear view of the screen. What’s more, the TV itself is often a prominent feature or even the focal point of the space.

If you have a bonus room, consider putting the TV there. You can include comfy sofas and create a separate space for family movies, at home dinner and movie date nights, or Saturday morning cartoons. Getting the TV out of the living room makes it easy to give that room a fresh emphasis. The new focal point could be anything from a large framed mirror to a wall hanging created by a local artist.

However, if you need to keep the TV in the living room for practical reasons, take away its status as visual focal point of the space.

Possibilities include:
    •    Putting it in an attractive TV cabinet with doors.
    •    Using a screen or sliding doors to block a wall-mounted TV from sight when not in use..
    •    Add a new focal point and re-orient the room’s other furniture accordingly.

Cut Down on Bathroom Drama with a Kids’ Bathroom Upgrade

(Provided by ABC Glass & Mirror, Inc. - Monday, December 05, 2016)

Bathroom RemodelingCould a kids’ bathroom upgrade help cut down on drama in your house? From arguments about whose turn it is to use the bathroom to squabbles about why the space is so messy, bathroom drama is sure to disrupt daily life and make blood pressure rise.

Make the space functional for more than one user.
Adding shower doors made from frosted privacy glass can make it possible for one sister to brush her teeth while the other showers and so forth. Also, frosted glass can be used to create a privacy partition. This can be of practical benefit in a kids’ bathroom in a few different ways.
   •    Partitioning the toilet makes it feasible for two siblings to use different parts of the bathroom simultaneously.
   •    A large partition can divide the room into two separate spaces perfect for multiple users.

Another way to approach this is by fitting the shower with frosted glass. When you select shower doors made from privacy glass, one child can brush teeth or fix hair while another showers. Some popular door designs are:
